Okay, so I'm repainting my 1992 E36. The original paint job is black. I am not going to repaint the engine bay, so my new color is going to stay black.
The real question is, which black looks best on an E36? I was thinking PPG Black Pearl.

Sand Pearl Black is pretty nasty.
Are we talking about BMW colors here? If so, I qould do Carbon Metallic or Schwarz II.

Nah, any color black.
No chameleon/mix paints though.

Well, sand pearl black is hot.
It looks like it has little teeny weenie bits of sand and pearl in it up close. Further away it looks like a pearly black.

Diamond black from E30 M3, or Sapphire Black from E46 are both nice and somewhat uncommon.
Cosmos has more of a graphite tone to it while Carbon black has a navy hue. I have Cosmos and love it to death, especially when the light hits it right and you can see all the purple/gold/blue specks but if you want WOW factor there is nothing like a shiny jet black.
Heres an example of how Schwartz II can look.

Off topic but TYE your car looks incredible! Excellent job on the detailing. That black looks incredibly deep and glossy.

I'd stick with a BMW color and go with Carbon Black...
