bmw e90 sedan door ajar sensor

2008 328i sedan, my car thinks my front door is open. I'm unable to lock my doors because of this and my lights don't go off in my car either. Car is 100% stock. The chime is starting to get annoying. I have sprayed the inside door lock with wd-40 and there's no built up gunk. Help!

The sensor is in the door latch. Does the door in close properly? Does it sit flush with the sheet metal? You’re going to remove the door card (interior door panel) to access the latch and the sensor. Disconnect the battery before starting as you could inadvertently trigger an air bag code.
