Hi. New here. First post a doozy.
Driving last week, heard knocking noise, lost power, and 90% of oil.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210202/f936e99148fb9673d4912f8445b5e54d.jpg
You can see pump internal paddle ( brown next to yellow arrow)
Pump is hanging freely from the hose.
Any ideas on what happened. I was 3 miles from house 22 Fahrenheit when it happened. Hopefully just pump? Maybe still now warm enough? Been all over looking for info on this. Hopefully not a timing issue... something catastrophic. I was expecting to work on the car some but 67,000 miles I thought the list of
Probable repairs was comparable to the time I like to be fiddling in my garage anyway.
Thanks for any pointers or advice.

90% of oil yikes.

Pretty sure it shut down when oil pressure went to zero [emoji849][emoji120]

I just pulled oil filter and it had no metal inside or out.
Just little wonder about the vacuum pump shaft probably part of the oil pump hence the catastrophic loss of oil...?

No, the vacuum pump is not part of the oil pump. What sort of pointers or advice are you looking for?

Are you gonna eat that?

The vacuum pump gives vacuum for the power brake system that’s all, typically they leak like yours has been for quite awhile, I have only seen them leak I have not seen one break

What is this thing about 90% oil loss? Broken oil pan?

Yeah I’ll be paying. Don’t need to drive and could prob do myself. Warm weather Would b better. I would love to find and actual diagram or just to see how “deep” of a break do I have. ? Is engine contaminated?
My first one. Love driving it! Have more time than money these days.

I love to be different. [emoji1360] think oil contaminated with the metal flakes on outside?

No. It all came out of the totally broken off vacuum pump https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210204/ecf0c915ed6171e7647801277d219e09.jpg

Sad... dealer got it and got back to me, “vacuum pump was broken off from the ROD that went THRU THE CRANKCASE. Not even 65k interior/exterior no less than 9 out out ten.
Dealer serviced since new til I got it and put 600 or so miles on it in 101days. 11 days out of the 90 day it came with from Lexus dealership.
Part out or 60-60k $1600 used engine? Thanks

No it looks more like reputable seller found and closer to $2000 for engine and I think $175 shipping. If all goes well I’ll post. It was a long day to figure out that there are hundreds of people in Calcutta making up web sites/fake companies that impossible to trace engines with who knows how many miles being sold with bull crap warranties by people who never see or ever intend on making a client happy. They are just reselling what they found on the market.
Here’s a hint. Check better business bureau you’ll see. How they get top billing on google I do not know

Top shiny part is vacuum pump spindle.
Hole underneath, (thru case) is showing crank where rod bearing used to be.
These cars are nightmares

Whole bottom of engine was cracked. Including the oil pan broken in two. Rod and piston parts all laying in belly pan.
So much for a bulletproof, naturally aspirated inline 6.
Mind that it through no codes
Instantaneous catastrophic failure.
Timing chain probably came off bc loose vanos bolts in sprocket. ?
