Looking for a 530i Sport, I came across this recent post on Craigslist.

Seems like a decent fixer upper with style 32 rims, but this one has gray interior whereas I definitely want black and not enough spare time to do an interior swap. Exterior color is Titanium though it's hard to tell from the photos.

Oil is probably oil filter housing gasket. Seems nice.

If you really like it and it's something you want as a project car, offer him $1000. Unless you're willing to do the head gasket yourself, it could be costly to have it done by a shop.

If you don't have time to do an interior swap you probably don't have time for a $1200 e39.

"Was working great, started leaking oil possibly broke a seal or head gasket"
Travel 800 miles for that? https://www.bimmerforums.com/images/smilies//headshot.gif

Ah headgasket, inline 6 is long. If the headgasket is out it was probably overheated knowing these cooling systems. The head could very well be warped if its the headgasket. It's implied that it runs fine though so that wouldn't be likely.

M54B30s are cheap. Rip out the overheated one (if that's what happened) and throw a new one in. Can have it swapped in a day or two on a rack, couple weekends or so if doing on jackstands. Do the typical repair stuff on the replacement engine while it's out. If the rest of the car is in decent shape, you could have a really nice car for under $5k easy that would last a long time.
