Hello folks!

I did imported from Germany to Romania a 525i, automatic trans, 1 previous owner, 230.000 km on clock, full service history, very well maintained from like 1 month+ ago, I did almost 1000 kms+ with no issues, however 2 days ago I start to hear a strange noise that is comming from the driver side, between back seats and driver seat, more exactly under the car, but here is the creppy part. I will post a link with the record, in reality the sound is not that loud, but not that quiet either.

From the outside of the car this noise, you can barely hear it... but! From the back seat is very clear, not that loud from the driver seat. This sound is a combination of creaks/rumble and ticking. If i touch the floor with my hand in the area where you rest your foot in the back, I can also feel with my hand the vibration generated by this sound.

So today, I got under the car and I found the source of the noise, is the third pipe(the most close to the transmision) that is coming from the fuel tank(driver side) the other 2 pipes I can't feel anything if I touch them. I'm 100% sure that is from the third one.

Also, the car is running perfectly fine, no check engine light, no power loss, no rough idle...

The problem is, I don't know what I should start to investigate. A bad fuel filter? The sending unit/fuel transfer? Fuel pump?! But that is on the other side of the car...

Check and make sure all the lines are properly fastened down in their holders. Someone may have missed one while servicing the filter, and it is shaking from the pump, pumping fuel.

Are u talking about the lines that go into the fuel filter under the driver seat? If this matter, I did check if there are leaks over there and seems fine. I did not disassembled that protective cover that protects the fuel filter but no leaks in that area.

Also I forgot to mention that, in the pipe photo link, where I grab the pipe is location where I can feel the vibration generated by the noise, is feeling like is clogged up and the more I progress with touching the pipe from the sending unit(back of the car) to the fuel filter(front of the car) the less I can feel the vibration. So is definitely coming exactly from the fuel tank(see picture).

I will not drive the car anymore untill I see what is going on under the car. I don't even have the right tools for this job. Seems I have to call some friends to help me.

Check the fuel filter pressure regulator if your car is a facelift. On the m54 the fuel filter came with a built in pressure regulator. There are a few threads on the forum about this exact problem you are facing. In one instance (Pe un urs cred ca era, dar acolo filtrul este separat de regulator) the main culprint was the regulator. It`s not an exact answer but at least it gives you a lead.

Yes the car is a facelift with the m54b25 engine. 525i version was only facelift.
I was thinking to replace the fuel filter, but I didn't know there is a regulator inside, so this piece(the fuel filter) is made actually from 2 parts? If I order a new one, I also have to order the regulator? Or is built in?

I can see you are from Romania as well so I will translate what you said. He said 'on a bear(this is how we call for bmw e30 chassis in Romania) I think it was, but there the filter is separated from the regulator'.
