Is it worth the extra $1000 for the 36# injectors and the mass air meter/hfm. I currently have the stage one kit and want to upgrade to the stage 2 intercooler, but I know that the 28.8# injectors will be maxxed out.

Can you give a little more details? Is a boost bump involved? Aftercooler involved? Water injection? Does it come with tuning? Etc.

It's most likely worth it if some of the above are true...

Sorry for the lack of info. It would be a boost bump and aftercooler addition. Osh said that the 28.8# inj are maxxed at 11 psi. I would like to have the room to upgrade, possiblly with cams or obd1 manifold. It would come with 36# inj. the correct hfm and the software. The cost is $1000 plus the normal price of $1795 for the stage two intercooler w/ boost bump.

If you're saying Osh is giving you an Aftercooler, Pulley's for a boost bump, injectors, HFM and software.... then you're getting a STEAL! Just make sure he doesn't charge you until he actually is ready to SHIP/GIVE you the parts (others have paid and waited for months or longer).

Boris I think me meant $1795 plus the $1000.00.

Blown M3 what is the 3.5 HFM is it one from a 540i 2001+ ??

A grand for the injectors and HFM sounds like a lot of money you can buy them cheaper or is that with software ??

For $1000, I would say no.

You can find Mustang injectors for pretty cheap. I bought 24# injectors NEW for $175 (found a dealer willing to sell me 6 instead of 8, otherwise, its a bit over $200 for 8).

I'm pretty sure the upgraded HFM is just the 3.5" euro model, which you should be able to find for under $300 used, or a bit more new.

Overall, I think you can find those parts cheaper.

Ohh... $2800 for everything? Sorry... I misunderstood. At least that dropped down in price from $7k Osh was offering to Paul a few years ago (withOUT the aftercooler!)

hfm will cost 175 at junk yard... injectors shouldn't be more than 200 but I am thinking he is also including the plumbing which may be worth it...Plus you wouldn't have to spend time to piece stuff together and you would get new parts from him...

Just track what ive been throught.. ALL your answers will be in there ;).. Briefly, yes, your current injectors max out at 6k rpms at 11 psi. Going to proper injectors, larger hFM and matching air filter, got me about 20 whp... Plus it got me a much better afr. Hell, the aftercooler alone got me about 20 whp by itself!! When I added the aftercooler, my afr went from a reasonable 13.3 at redline to a lousy 14:1 at redline. The aftercooler and its denser air charge underlined the inability of the maxed injectors to keep pace with the denser air charge.. Hence, the new injectors, euro hfm, and larger filter.. And of course, proper tuning by Technique Tuning, to tie it all together.. Do the search and youll find the afr plot to show you what it Should look like :) Good luck..

As for the price..... Yikes.. it does sound like a lot. but consider a minute.. New euro hfm must cost near $350. Injectors for another $350 isnt unusual. Leaving $300 for software.. Using a breakdown similar to that, its not all that bad it seems to me. And the aftercooler price of $1700 or so, while up about $200 from a month or so ago when he was selling it to the world for around $1500 still is a far site better than the 3 grand he was getting for it not long ago.. AS Boris says, I was offered the opportunity for an upgrade similar to this for about three times as much a while ago! While expensive, I dont think its all that unreasonable when you break it down, piece by piece. Plus, its really the only way to safely and powerfully run 11 psi on these kits.

BlownM3 - you should get into contact with marco (email me if you can't the 411 on him) ... he can get you rock bottom RMS prices.... he got paul his aftercooler real cheap... this may save you a few bucks.. that might make the upgrade to the 3.5" HFM a no brainer....

Daves right, better to contact Marco and have him act as a holding company for you rather then going direct.

Frankly I'm surprised even Marcos getting things out of RMS but at least your chances are better if you go with him that you wont get burned by the “take the money and run” curse.

I think I'll add that one to the RMS client tee shirt list.

'I sent RMS 30k and all I got was this lousy tee shirt"

or

Sorry Blown for hijacking your thread I couldn’t resist. Let me bring it back on topic for you.

If you do decide to purchase anything just do so with your eyes wide open and understand what the potential problems are. many of the parts you are looking for can be obtained from board members at a reasonable rate.

As Paul has shared do some homework on his project and you can see the trial and error process he endured to get him where he is. This should help you to decide what hardware you’ll need and then you can figure out where the safest place to get it is.

I leave you with this, Don't let your passion for your car cloud your judgment into lining someone’s greedy pocket. There are many valuable resources on this board to be found just make sure you utilize them wisely.
