Hi guys!

I'm looking for a way to scan for codes on my euro spec e34 (no CEL)

I've seen someone talk about a 1.2w bulb and the ETM.. but maybe if someone can explain I would really appreciate it!

I also have this problem that i posted on reddit, maybe some of you in here have an idea to what it could be.

Thank you very much in advancec!

I believe that European cars cannot do a stomp test. A scanner/reader is required to get the codes.

Down the bottom of this page it decribes how to do it: http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Trouble/Engine_codes.htm

I've never bothered though, so I can't say if it works or how difficult it is. You could give it a go, but if it doesn't work and you really feel like you need a diagnostic system then get a laptop set up with DIS or ISTA, or buy a foxwell scanner and see if it works with the E34.

This:https://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale/nt510-multi-system-scanner-with-one-fre-car-brand-software-and-obd.html but make sure you buy the separate round BMW plug, not that OBD2 plug like in that link.

I would try to get stomp test to work. Getting the rig staryed for DIS is a pain in the A......... If you have cash perhaps u could try to buy a scanner but that seems like a waste of money
