Has anyone installed the Bavarian Motorsports springs on a E34 525i?
I just installed their 1.28" lowered springs with KYB"s and it appears the bump stops sit very close to the top of the strut collar.
It doesn't seem to bottom out but wanted to know if anyone has come across this situation?

Did you trim off some of the bump stops? I always cut off about an inch or so when I was a teenager lowering mine and my friends cars.

I thought about it but didn't know. Thing is I called Turner Motorsports, where I purchased them, and asked. Spoke with a Doug who didn't remember since it's been so long but told me he would ask some of the guys in the shop and get back to me. He never did so I took the chance and installed them thinking they'd be close but still have room.
I called Turner Motorsports again yesterday, left a message with Doug but still haven't heard back. So much for customer support with them.

LOL!! I would stay away form that question as well!!

I am not familiar with your chassis, however, I hazard you guess that the KYB shocks that are installed were not intended to be run with significant drop lowering springs.
I would question how close the shock shafts are to bottoming out internally before coil bind (ouch!!)
I would leave the bumps stops as they are.

Thanks Blutgm3,

For what it's worth, it's a 1.28 (30mm) lowered spring. The site advertises that it's an insignificant drop and doesn't mention any modification or suggested strut/shock for my model (E34). So is it to say that whichever spring size is offered, it's a trial and error challenge for the consumer? Rhetorical question, lol. I thought Turner would provide specifics, which is why I called them.

How would I check to determine how close the shock shafts are to bottoming out? As it is now, it rides fine and I've yet to bottom out but then again, I haven't traveled over extremely irregular roads or pot holes yet.

Is your suggestion of leaving the bump stops in so that there is some form of protection in case I do bottom out at some point?

Lastly, the reason for my post is to also see if anyone has run this setup before. The Bavarian springs and KYB's.
