checking things out in the engine bay and I came across this. I will be buying a new pulley and belt. Is there a trick to replacing the belt, or should I have a shop do it?

NICE CATCH!!!
It isn't easy to do...We have replaced the pullies before. Unless you have access to a lift and shop I suggest letting someone else deal with it.

hmm, pullies only took me and my gf's dad about 1.5 hours, and it took that long because we were switching off between my car and another e30 next to us. haha, that day was bimmerfest in a garage. two e30's and my e34 =p.
oh yea. we changed 3 pullies and a tensioner
edit.. oh yea, we did it with some jack stands and a light and of course the proper tools =).
