I recently purchased a 2015 428i xDrive, as you can see the stock rims date the car and need to go.
I found a nice set of rims from a 2009 E60 550i that I would buy and powder coat black then put on my car, is there a way to tell if they would fit my car before I buy them?
My stock tires are 225/50/r17 and I don't know how to figure out what the rims are other then they're 17s. Are the back wheels wider than the front stock? How does that work?

The rims and tires I'm looking at getting have the fronts at 19x8.5 with 245/35/19 and rear 19x9.5 with 275/30/19. Would these fit on my car?

The offset between 5s and 3s has historically not been directly interchangeable, and usually the hub size is slightly different. Not that you couldn't bolt them on, but they won't be quite right.

You are correct. A coworker with an E60 put F30 wheels on it. He had to get some decent sized spacers so the wheels looked "proper", and not inset in the wheel wells by an inch or two.
