So I recently bought a japan 36 for $400. Body and in mint condition but the problem is that I have almost tried everything for it to start.
First it cranked and studdered but wouldn't start. Replaced the crank sensor and the vehicle also had way to much oil so I drained it up to its proper point and clean the spark plugs, because they were all black. Brand new spark plugs from the seller. Also tested compression and no issues there either.I recently posted in another forum and they said the fuel pressure regulator, the idle control valve or the fuel pump may be the cause. Fuel goes through all injectors fine and I tested the idle control value, works ok, tested the fuel pressure regulator, also not the cause of the problem. I also replaced some of the grounding wiring as they looked coroded. There was spark at this time as well.
Second, after a week or so, there is no spark at all, completely gone. Now it wont even try to spudder or rev up when I try to turn it over.
I'm not sure if my make and model has a ecw but I pretty sure since its an older e36 model that it doesn't but correct me if I'm wrong.
Any suggestions, answers? Even if someone could tell me how different the Japanese e36 models are and what problems usually occur that would be helpful as well.

Test all your fuses. Bench test all your relays, only pull them one at a time otherwise you will ruin something when you install them incorrectly.

Remove the DME and check for white oxide tracks. Clean the whole thing with Deoxit 5% with a light brush. Let it dry 24hrs before reinstall.
