For sale is my 2001 740iL with Sport package, true full black on black with 145k miles; current VA inspection until November. Comes loaded with: heated front and rear seats; heated steering wheel; rear window shades; S-EDC (missing the shocks though), mark IV navigation; 16:9 widescreen monitor; etc. Clean CarFax report with no accidents; I am the 3rd owner (still have the CarFax report from when I bought it in 2017). The car is a sex machine, best 7-series body in my opinion. It's currently lowered on BC Racing coilovers with Swift springs (multi-dampening adjustment front and rear; front camber plates). I've spent a lot of blood, sweat and tears (and MONEY) to bring this car up to its current glory. My plan was to add Style 95 wheels to this baby, but plans and life have changed.
Below you will find a list of some parts replaced at certain mile markers, but here are few key highlights:
1) Timing chain guides are done; engine is super healthy!
2) Transmission was rebuilt by previous owner
3) Headliner and pillars were recovered; interior is mint!
4) Literally every single piece of suspension has been replaced
5) Paint was cut and polished
143k - Air filter
141k - Clear front turn lenses; 2x Philips D2S xenon HID bulbs
132k - Front tires
130k - Two front rotors with Akebono pads; BC Racing coilovers with Swift springs and camber plates; custom 4-wheel alignment
126k - Brake lights switch; coolant cap
125k - Two engine mounts
124k - Front and rear control arms (upper and lower); sway bar end links and bushings; rear ball joints; rear integral links
122k - Rear wheel speed sensor; sunroof seal; clear fender markers; headlight lenses
118k - Rear speaker shelf Monsoon speaker upgrade
114k - MAF sensor; trunk lid strut
113k = BOUGHT THE CAR AND DUMPED HUGE AMOUNT OF PARTS! Here is a list of just few items, but have receipts to prove ALL items replaced: Timing chain guides, including FULL engine and intake reseal; water pump; all rear heater hoses; spark plugs; four tires; front tie rods and center drag link; front sway bar mounts and links; power steering reservoir and hoses; charcoal cabin air filters; belts; rear left window regulator; e39 front rubber floor mats... and more!!!
I have several receipts from the previous owner. The major ones are transmission rebuild and windshield replacement!
- Battery (2016),
- Alternator (2013),
- Window tint (2011),
- Windshield [green tint] (2010),
- Transmission rebuild (2010)
Items that I am aware of that may need to be addressed/issues:
1) Instrument cluster has an internal issue which causes check lights to turn on and off at random times. All gauges and lights themselves works great! I had the cluster diagnosed and it was confirmed that it's something internal like a bad capacitor or dry solder joint
2) Radio volume button doesn't always respond, but the steering wheel has the volume controls
3) Rear right window regulator might be going bad, as it makes odd noises when used, but I never use that window
4) Rear tires may need to be replaced if you plan to keep current wheels
5) Small crack (~2") in the front bumper from the previous owner (lived in MD/DC area)
These cars are harder and harder to find in running and clean condition. Failed timing chain guides kill these cars and it costs about $3-4k for the job; plus trannys go bad too! My car has all of the major concern items replaced and then some! All this car needs is a fresh set of 19" or 20" wheels to be an instagram worthy. If you have any questions, please let me know! Clean title in hand. Asking $7,900 or best offer (cash or cashier's checks only).
