I dropped the pan on my 09 328 (GM Trans) drained by gravity only (no flush), replaced filter, installed new gasket and reinstalled pan. Torqued all bolts to spec. Went to fill with fresh fluid and it only took 3 quarts which does not seem like enough but fluid is running out of full home.
How much should it have taken? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200715/301b51bf60514f0f1bf89830099c3eca.jpg
Filled from here....

09 E92. Dropped trans pan, replaced filter but did not flush system. New filter, gasket installed. Pan reinstalled and all bolts torqued to spec.
My problem: upon refilling, fluid ran out of full hole after only 3 quarts. I was expecting much more (6). Admittedly, I have not started car up to circulate yet, but I was expecting only a minor adjustment after that. Since I drained into a bulk container, I do not know how much drained out.
How much would you have expected? If more, any ideas why I am having fluid drain out early? I filled from the plug marked in the pic, and as my level indicates, the car is level on my lift. Thanks

Well I'm sure it needs to be started and checked and the temperature of the fluid needs to stay below a certain temp while checking level go to newtis.com enter the last seven of the vin go the section 24
