I have a 2006 335i. I'm replacing the black line that runs from the transfer pump up to the firewall. Having trouble getting the quick disconnect...disconnected. Is there a special tool?

Thank you.

Shuffled to the model specific discussion area.

Caliguy, it may not be needed, but how about sharing a pic of what and where you are asking about?

If it's the standard fuel line connector, no special tool needed. Push the hose towards the fitting to take off a little pressure. Then push the gray release collar into the fuel line. It will push open the locking tabs allowing you to pull the line off.

This.

Alternatively, there are small collars that some fittings need to be pushed in to spread the tabs so that the fitting can slide over. This thing is in several sizes for the pipe that it fits over, push the end into the fuel fitting to spread the tabs inside, then you can pull the fitting off. They make fittings with this thing built in, you push the fitting on, then pull the release ring toward the direction to take the fitting off, then the fitting will release.
