Hey everyone, new to this community, but been a BMW nut my whole life.

I just purchased a 1990 535i with quite a few interesting options like EDC, Automatic Air Conditioning and even rear headrests. I read the error codes with a scanner and I am getting a ADV01 Jam Protection Active fault.

I have done some searches, but I can't seem to find what this means? Maybe unrelated but coincidentally the car has an electrical issue where occasionally it will not crank. However, if I remove fuse 20 the problem is resolved.

Anyone have an idea of what might be going on?

ADV01 jam protection active https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1910082-INPA-error-report-need-explanation = but unfortunately no clarification

ADV could mean in German Anpress Druck Verstaerker = wiper pressure (relay?) , that is the black relay under rear seat and ADV is written on it, maybe you pull it and see what happens. Sometimes the ADV gear gets damaged and that causes that the relay is always hot and the battery power goes down.

Thanks for the quick answer, much appreciated
I haven't had time to check out the ADV fuse yet, took a quick look and realized I would need more light and more time, but I've been busy at work the last few days
I found out why the previous owner had Fuse 20 removed, it seems that there must be a wiring issue
Because after two days standing the battery went dead
This never happened before I put fuse 20 back in
