Creaking noise coming from engine bay

Hi Everyone

Firstly i''m brand new to the forum , am glad to have joined.:D


I have a 2005 E90 323 (Im in Johannesburg South Africa , over here we also got a "323" , basically its a lower output N52B25 with 130KW , 230NM).

Lately i have been getting a weird creaking noise coming from engine.I have also noticed a bad leak from the oil filter housing gasket , and an occasional belt squeal.

Car has just over 100 000 km's or 62137 miles

Any idea what it could be ?

Im leaning towards worn idler and or tensioner pulleys , the creaking noise increases with frequency as i rev the engine slightly.

Hi there, Remove the intake snorkel above the belt, see if you can hear this noise coming off the belt tensioner below it. Also if your leaking oil from the filter housing it's most likely also dripping down along the belt too...
I would start there, also could be other sources PS, Alternator, etc... ran by the belt.
