New to me wagon . Bought it knowing it needs a new starter. What’s the general opinion on fully removing intake manifold vs pushing it to the side.

Pushing it to the side requires 95% of the work of removing it fully, and if you're unseating 10YO gaskets, you should replace them.

Which ever will be easiest for you but I would think removing the intake would be the best way

I guess when the parts arrive I’ll try it with pushing it aside if not I’ll remove the whole thing

I never remove them completely. Just unbolt it all, move it over and go to work on the starter.
