Used these folks several years ago to fix the radio in my E39 after Germanaudiotech refused to honor their "lifetime" warranty. Well, appears VDO Repair is no longer honoring their "lifetime" warranty either. I can get no response via email or their website. I noticed their current products and repairs are only warranted for one year now...

I did not have a good experience with bestpixel repair. If he can repair your existing display you're probably fine.
If he has to replace your display, he said he can't get E39 displays any more so he uses the display from the X5 which has a slightly different viewing angle.
He didn't think I'd notice but it's almost unviewable unless I lean over.

BTW, I'm only refering to the MID display.

I do highly recommend Blacknight530 for instrument cluster repair. His repair is fixed for lifetime.

Fixels doesn't fix radio displays. He recommended I use Best Pixel Repair.

Thanks for the tip. I am shipping on Monday to Best Pixel Repair...if they say I need a new display, I will decline the repair and have it returned.

If Paul, Blacknight530, or Fixels is still doing it, have him do it. 150% standup dude, and 200% certifiable E39 nut job just like you and me.

As I stated in my previous post (#5), Fixels does NOT repair E39 radios...only gauge clusters. He does recommend using Best Pixel Repair for fixing E39 radios.

I always thought he fixed the MIDs too, sorry I missed what you said about that.

He told me (Paul) that he doesn't fix the MID anymore but he didn't tell me why. He did repair the instrument cluster on my project car and I'm very happy with his work.

So far so good with Best Pixel Repair. I found they have a Ebay listing for only $100 for E39 radio pixel repair. I sent overnight Fed Ex (at my expense) and the next day he acknowledges receipt with a message through Ebay. Then messaged me throughout the process (there were a few hiccups due to poor previous work) until a few hours later a picture of it repaired and being testing on the bench with it working perfectly. A couple hours later I received ship notification through Ebay that is was on the way back priority mail to arrive on Friday. Pretty amazing service. The guy at Best Pixel Repair was very thorough and explained the process in his messages, as well as photos of the issues with how mine was poorly repaired by Germanaudiotech and VDO Repair in the past.

Arrived back a day early, took less than one minute to reconnect and snap back into the dash. Working perfectly! I must say I am impressed with how quickly Best Pixel Repair fixed and returned my E39 radio. Excellent communication throughout the process, very professionally run. I'm happy to have all my pixels working again.

Tomas at BavTek in Riverside, CA fixed both my MID and cluster displays and they’ve held up well. Solid guy and a huge BMW fan.

+1 BavTek, best price, quick turn-around. They offer a lifetime warranty for an extra $30, I think it's one year without.

I went to Bimmeronly.com in Fremont, CA for my '03. Only took an hour, lifetime warranty. I've only had the car for two years, but its been perfect. Now, my mechanic uses them as well.
