I used to have a 528i 1997, it had a heated steering wheel. Loved it in the winter. I just bought a 2008 535i from a buddy. It does not have the heated steering wheel option installed. The manual talks about it.
Does my steering wheel have the wiring in it to warm the wheel even though the option wasn't purchased?
If so can I get it to work?
Thanks in advance

My '08 has it and I didn't know about it until I was cleaning and found the button hidden behind the wheel by the tilt/telescope joystick - stupid place for the button...
No idea if all the wiring is present, but at a minimum you will need the heated wheel itself.

My 30 seconds of research, which was a google search, turned up at least one good thread. I’ll let the OP find it since the exercise and reading will help the understanding, but I will give one hint. 5 series dot net has the best E60 tech. This forum is not very active, not that a lot of 5 series owners DIY.
