Hey

Currently I have an 09' sonata with 226,000 miles. The timing chain is rattling bad, the car is rotted and is all around a piece of junk.

Anyways I'm looking for a better car and I've always been a fan of the 328's. I have a decent amount of experience working on cars (never bmw however) ..but I could certainly do some maintenance myself, like brakes, oil, valve gaskets, water pump etc..

I'm looking for some honest opinions about buying a used 06-09 bmw 3 series? I can't spend more than $6k-$7k.
At that price range I'm noticing most of the cars for sale typically have around 110k-150k.

Would investing in something like this be wise or would I be better off saving more until I can afford a newer bmw?

Any opinions would help!

Thx
Brad

Are you budgeting for parts? It’s great that you can do the work, but like the car, parts come at a premium.

Right. A car at that age and mileage will require some ongoing repairs and maintenance. And BMW parts aren't cheap. So just keep that in mind.
