Are there any decent budget coilovers for e36? Mine feel like a boat through corners, does not inspire confidence. Its a 318is coupe on lowering springs and 16s.
It does need an alignment, but the whole car seems all bouncy. Are they supposed to be like this, even on lowering springs? Was thinking about 17s and coilovers to tighten it up. Would that make a big difference?

I guess it all depends on what you consider budget price range. I have BC coilover on both my daily e46 and my e36 track car. Both setup totally different and each give a perfect ride for what I was looking for.

BCs are really nice coilovers, those and hsd. Though Im prolly gonna buy some with tuv. Did the bc's tighten up the car a lot?

Yes it is a lot tighter, my e46 has a stock like feel over bumps but without any body roll around corners. The handling vs comfort level is everything I could ask for. As for the rack car... well it's pretty damn tight lol certainly too stiff for street driving but it amazes me that one product could be adjusted to 2 different extremes and perform so well. I've also been running them for 3 years on the e46 daily in new england and have no decrease in feel so they seem very durable

If you go with tuv though please post a review in a few months! I've never tried anything cheaper than bc and I'd love to hear some feedback on them. Hopefully some others will chime in here with what they are running. Specifically on the budget side of coilovers

Might want to check all ball joints and bushings as well.
Second on the ball joints and bushings; they are most likely worn out and are a big factor in the sloppiness you are experiencing. RTABs are the big culprit, mine was only worn on one side but would cause unexpected direction changes with throttle input.

Consider getting a solid outer ball joint Forward Lower Control Arms

Speaking as someone who just went with stock replacement struts, new control arms, and swaybar links/bushings... Corners are pretty amazing now. Totally solid. Coilovers just don't seem to be too cost effective, just from reading a lot of E36 threads, unless you really need the adjustability that they provide.
