I am looking for replacement tires for my 93 325is. It has 205/60-15 currently, and I am looking for something about the same, perhaps a little wider for handling purposes. I would like these tires to get me 30k or more miles, with about 3/4 of them on the freeway at 80-100mph (Yes, I drive a bit fast :rolleyes) Anywho, what tires would be recommended for longevity as well as handling, and price! The key thing is longevity and price, but I definitely want handling too, as I do drive a BMW and I like my twistys fast :)
Thanks in advance!!

There isn't anything wider that will work with your OE wheels. The best handling tires for the car with some mileage would be the Yoko AVS DB S2 at 69.00 per tire. They are very quiet riding and will get you somewhere around 40K for tread life.
If I can help let me know.

Humm... If I recall correctly, TireRack says that a 225/55-15 will fit just fine, and I have driven in cars with 225/55-15's on, in fact. Thank you for the tire suggestion tho :) And BTW, TireRack is really a nice site, easy to use and has soo much stuff on it! Awesome that we (Bimmer people) get to have your guys support *right here* :) Thanks!

Question: Does TireRack.com list "tread life" or anything like that? It would save me a *lot* of time if I could see what the tread life was estimated at, directly on the same site I'll buy at. Thanks in advance, again ;)

Sorry about 3 posts in a row, I hate not editing, but I want to bump this too.
Whats the average life of a Sumitomo HTR 200 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+200)?
Whats the average life of a Yokohama AVS ES100 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVS+ES100)?

The only tire made in the 225/55R15 is the Michelin Pilot HX at 157.00 per tire. You are looking at around 30K on a tire like that. They do not have a mileage warranty. The other tires you mention should be about the same for tread life. They would be about 30K as well. The ES100 would be the best handling of the bunch.
If I can help let me know.

Is there a simple way to look up what type of tread life any given tire has? If the ES100 has ~30k, then I might as well go with that, being as it will last long enough for my use and handle well.
Thanks!

The treadwear rating would be the only thing to look at. It would be an indiactor as to the tread life but a lot depends on the car and the driver.
If I can help let me know.
