Hello everyone. I am looking at 2-3 different N47 equipped 320d e90s to buy, fix and flip like I´ve done with three N43 equipped 3-series now. I´ve done the timing chains on those since it really isn´t a big hassle anymore and want to do some diesels as they sell very well here in Norway. With the N43 petrol the guides snap at around 110-140k km but the chain stays intact. Can the same be said for the N47? Can one just change the broken guides and let the chain go to 300k km? Also, with the petrol engine there seems to not be any other repair necessary other than the guides(chain does not elongate or become damaged only guide plastic breaks) and maybe dropping the pan with new gaskets and oil. Do valves slap pistons in most cases when the chains/guides start to go on the N47(when the engine is only running rough) or will it only happen when something literally snaps? Thank you for answers. If you have ant questions regarding fixing the chain-system on an N43, drop a comment.
