Remote start via the app?

I see the iPhone app will let me lock and unlock, run the fan and such. Why can't I use it to remotely start the car? That seems like a no-brainer feature to add. I assume there is some legal reason? I can't imagine there is a technical obstacle.

Hyundai offers it through Bluelink - not locally w/ the key fob. Why can’t BMW?

BMW has refused to put remote start on their vehicles for a long time now. We are told for safety reasons. Just recently, new models have the option of remote start. I don't know if your '17 440 is capable or not.

Ah, safety reasons, of course. The same reason NJ does not allow people to pump their own gas. Thanks for your reply.

It's because it isn't legal in Germany.
