Hi there,

I am not a mechanic and feel this is most of my problem....

i have had a lot of issues and ill try to list them all here

I brought a 318i 58 plate back September 2017 and was excited to collect it, on collection i drove the car about 3 miles and the EML came on, took the car back to the garage and had a injector replaced. was fine but felt rough still.

continued using the car and the light came on again, took it to a mate that worked for a breakdown service company and he told me it was my crankshaft postion sensor, he turn the fault off and ran fine for a while. light came back on about 2 months later, took it back and it was my CPS again. turned it off and brought a code reader.

i personally still thought the car was running rough but this was my first bmw so put it down to not knowing so i got the sensor replaced.

at the same time i got a full service done as it was due.

Drove probably 30 miles and i started to hear a "ting ting" from the engine bay, took the car to the garage again and was told it was my timing chain (65k on the clock) and that they wouldn't be able to do it and had to take it to a specialist.

I was then informed it was my big ends that have gone and had to pay for a engine repair. (plus timing chain kit)

after i was getting new codes and was getting a lack of power (foot on throttle and no power then all of a sudden it comes back).

it was backwards and forwards over 3 weeks to the specialists that did the engine repair.

Fault codes

camshaft position timing over retarded bank 1 - they replaced 2 valves

misfire from cylinder 1 - replaced the injector

Now i have the EML flash on and goes off with the fault "knock sensor bank 1 high input."

i spoke to the garage and they said it could be my ecu and to send it off for testing.

not sure if i am getting taken for a ride and my trousers pulled down or just unlucky, is there any chance these are all related?

thanks in advance on any replies.
