Hey guys new here. I have a 92 325i an my maf went bad. One of the wires on the sensor have snapped. So I have to replace. My question is I have the 6 pin circle screw on maf. I've noticed most of the replacements are 4 pin. Is there any other cars I can swap it out with. Or can I cut a connection for let's say a 95 325i BMW an rewire it or from another car. Wouldn't this mess with the cars esm being it isn't programmed to the car. I'm dumbfounded with mafs but everything is a learning process. Found alot on mafs on here but not with the 92 bmw 6 pin I have. Supposably they made the pre 8/92 again reading an learning. Can anyone feed me some info thanks

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s vehicle identification number. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Go to engine electrical to find the part number for the MAF. Click on the part number (it’s a link) to see what other cars use the same MAF.

If I remember right the only MAF that will work on the non vanos engine is the MAF from a 92 325i or the 92 525i. The later 4 pin mafs have different housing sizes and use different values for airflow, so they wont work with a plug swap.

On the net I found on a German site a Bosch MAF and it says: Bosch 0 986 280 116 • BMW 13621722489 • 13621730074 • 13627527518 ,This replaces Bosch 0 280 213 011, new price EURO 363,00 € (inkl. MwSt.) Altteilpfand/core: + 119,00
Based on the pic it is also a 6-pin MAF https://www.teilehaber.de/itm/luftmassenmesser-bosch-0-986-280-116-src319715.html
Someone has already replaced a 0 280 213 011 with a 0 986 280 116 ?

The part numbers here don't look too promising for replacing the 213 011 MAF but it would be nice if there were first hand experience or reports of these 'remanufactured' units. Not only are they expensive but the part numbers don't match and whose gonna try one at almost $700. Of the three BMW part numbers in that listing one doesn't work and another is superceded to the 527 518 part number the price of which is the same as looking up the new 213 011 MAF. That price now shows as about $1400 in the BMW factory parts lists. I have one of these engines and luckily found a used working replacement. I've been through these 213 011 MAFs with scopes and probes and can't figure exactly what they've done here. The signal voltages are much lower than the later MAFs but the odd thing is the 1.8v signal coming FROM the ECU to the MAF on one of the wires. If that one wire is disconnected the idle settles down but there's no power. There's a reason why they dumped these after only a short run. Just in case the used MAF craps out, I picked up a later model used engine complete with harness and ECU for much less than the cost of the new 213 011 MAF.

I have a 1991 E36 4 door sedan with the newer style body.
It is 9/91 manufacture.
It has the 6 pin.
