Nice to meet everyone and thanks for the vast amount of information provided on this forum!

I just bought my first BMW - 2015 48i xDrive Coupe. I wasn't planning on getting a BMW as reading about maintenance costs can be a bit scary. However, I found a crazy good deal on a 2015 428i with only 32,500 miles. I drove it and had to have it! It's a really fun car to drive, which is odd for me to say as I've always hated driving. It has a "brake light on" on the dash and the check engine light is also on. Luckily, I have a family friend that has worked on these vehicles for 20+ years and I'm able to trust his evaluation. Luckily, he couldn't find any major issues.

* Brake light - he checked all the brake pads and said they look like they are brand new. However, every time I try to reset this brake light it says "Unable to reset." We think that it's the sensors, and I purchased both front and rear brake sensors. Luckily they are cheap and hopefully it will do the trick. If anyone else has any recommendations, please share!
* Needs an oil change. I purchased 5w-30 Liqui Molly and an oil filter. I've read this is good oil for my car. If not, please advise.
* It has two error codes: P0597 & P0598. I went ahead and purchased an OEM thermostat and thermostat housing for about $60.00. I figure if he doesn't need to install a new one, I can return the one I bought. Any advice on these thermostat codes? It seems as thought it's a pretty common issue from what I read.

Other than that... it's good to go. I contacted BMW and even though the car only has 33k miles, the warranty expired in December. :-(:mad

I have figured out how to update the iDrive system and I updated to the 2019-2 version maps in navigation. Thanks to eBay for the $13.00 FSC code.

Quick question about tires and wheels... this car has stock P225/50R17. I'd like to upgrade to some 18" or 19" black wheels. Preferably 19". What is the best 19" tire size for my car? I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer. Also, should I stagger the wheels? I didn't know what that meant until this forum :lol. And if I find some good (used) alloy 19" rims, should I simply have these powder coated to save some $ ?

Thank you for taking the time to read and I appreciate all advice and recommendations! I still have a lot to learn about this car, but I'm looking forward to getting to know it better. Unless it takes all my $ like a busted stripper...:lol
