Any mechanic around here who works or have acces to period correct OEM specialty tools ?
Interested about the tool for bleeding the cooling sistem on M50
I work in a VAG dealership, but the tool i use for bleeding works based on vacuum and i don t know if it will work on a e34 as well as on a Golf since the expansion tank is different.
Thx

Never ever needed a tool to bleed the cooling system. Fill with coolant, loosen the bleeder screw and run engine with cap off. Turn to full heat tighten screw and cap when steady stream of coolant runs out

It's a lot easier if you remove the top hose and use that as a funnel to start off with.
Since there's no t/stat on the top hose engine outlet use the hose to fill the engine as much as you can, and then to fill the rad as much as you can.
Then refit the hose and fill the expansion tank and bleed as normal while running but I guess you could use a fitting on the bleed screw to vacuum while not running.
Just filling coolant via the expansion tank as suggested above takes way too long. I think the expansion tank just empties into the heater circuit, or if not, somewhere low in the block, or inlet manifold. It's not a great filling point.

someone years ago had showed a video doing one of those vacuum fills and seemed to work great. Myself Ill save the $ and bleed manually
