I was thinking of finding something different than my X5 for my 80 mile per day round trip commute. And I came across this one owner 2002 525i with 108,200 miles on the clock for sale in the town I work in. I'd never driven the E39, and figured this was a sign. manual with the M sport package, premium package and winter package. So I happily drove it home last night despite the one thing I knew was wrong with it, the tilt back function not working on the back of the driver's seat. And I quickly found out the sun roof had an issue. It was sticking, blew a fuse, and while manually cranking it back closed (thank you bimmer forums) I stripped the crankhole. No worries, I changed the fuse and managed to get it shut. Then on the way to my morning squash game .... WHAT? these are the cupholders?

I'll sell you my old sunroof motor if you'd like haha.

Also sounds like you'll need to reattach the seat cable if only one side adjusts or maybe a new motor if neither side works...

Good Luck. These are old cars with trick accessories.

Too funny and thanks! Yes I went into this with eyes open, have had a number of BMWs including the E34, but never this one. I really do like it so far. Going to look for a thread that tells me what maintenance items I should be prioritizing.

Awesome! I think I have seen that car on CL. Just know going in how much you are willing to put in. It can be a slippery slope LOL.
