View Full Version : will 225/40/18's in the rear of a e36 m3 cause it to be "loose"?

my M-Parrallel's have these size tires on them, and I notice my car is a little more loose than my 255's were. Is this the problem of it being loose, or do you think my RTAB's are messed up? thank

If you had 255 on before then the car will tend to oversteer a little more easily. If the tires are brand new you may just need to break the tires in and they will stick a little better.

depending on how many miles are on your car, your RTABs can be toast causing that loose feeling. Running a wider tire in the rear can mask this problem till your rear end suffers a catastrophic suspension failure.

do you feel the rear end shifting a bit when you're on/off the throttle?

also note that lowering the car can accelerate the wear on this particular pair of bushings.

abou 70k on the car. i dont' notice the rear end shifting when i'm up on the gas, only in turns. I have access to a floor jack where I can get stand under the car, what are the visual signs of worn RTABS. I'm going to search too, but just if you happen to know ;)
