Car is a 1997 328is, went driving the other day, out with some friends, and naturally was pressured into lighting the tires up, which i NEVER do. Car is babied every day of its life since i got it in February and put the FX/F1 Stage 3 clutch and lightweight flywheel with the intent of going turbo soon, so i figured, why not. Anyways, i lit the tires up, burnout, donuts, etc. and since then ive developed a pretty loud screeching or metal on metal sound that sounds like its coming from the transmission/clutch area. I just replaced the throwout bearing in an attempt to stop this and i can tell you it is NOT the throwout bearing as ive read in other threads. Only happens in gear, as I’m letting out the clutch in first gear to start moving, essentially only when you slip the clutch a little bit to move forward in first or sometimes second gear. Does not happen if I’m in neutral and just let the clutch out, anyone have any idea what it could be if its not the bearing?
