Hi all. I have spent the last few hours looking through forums and youtube videos but can't find any info in regards to my exact problem.

So just bought a 2006 325I. Key Fob worked fine opening and locking doors but was not in best condition, missing BMW logo in centre and just looked a bit worn.
Thought i would upgrade it and maybe change the battery at same time

Decided to get a new shell off Ebay. I opened old Fob which has the battery soldered to it, so decided not to worry about trying to change battery and to just put the old motherboard thing straight into new shell.

Fit perfectly. Closed it up and went outside.

Doors wont open or lock with the Fob now.
I use key to open car. Put Fob in and car starts fine. No idea whats happened.

I opened it back up thinking maybe the buttons on new Fob were not pressing against the little buttons on the Board. Took just the board outside and pressed the buttons. Still nothing.

Unlikely i damaged it as i simply transferred it straight across and closed it up.

So far have tried all the videos on getting it to pair again with vehicle, no luck.

I also read someone disconnected negative terminal for 15 minutes which seemed to reset everything. Worked for them. Not for me.

Some posts talk about fuse 57 being blown. I can use the central locking button inside car and the doors lock and unlock fine so not that either

Anyone else come across this issue and have a solution, or at least some other things to try

Looks as though its the rechargeable battery that is dying.

Got the opportunity over the weekend to take the car for a good long drive and now its working fine.

I only drive 10 minutes to work each week day then the car sits there all day so guess I need to look at replacing that soldered in battery
