For those of you with 335s - I recently bought this 2007 and the water pump is leaking t the joint where the black plastic bolts to the aluminum housing. Or it looks like that is where it is leaking anyway. The next question - how does it come out? It is buried! What is the easiest way to remove and replace? Does the radiator need to come out to get there? I also need to replace the gasket at the oil filter remote mount - this damn thing is leaking fluids everywhere......:help

Hopefully youtube videos show the same thing I'm about to type. Unbolt the sway bar mounts, and lower the bar. The pump will nearly fall out when you get it unbolted.

Pretty much - but one is a good video, very complete.

Remove swaybar brackets and let it drop down, then the hardest part is getting all the hoses off especially when they are stuck on there(get them ALL off the thermostat and pump BEFORE you unbolt anything... trust me it makes life easier). After that remove the 2 10mm bolts holding the thermostat to the waterpump, then remove the 3 torx bolts holding the pump to the block. shove the thermostat out of the way by the frame rail and drop the pump out, then pull the thermostat out behind it.(or leave it if you arent replacing it).

That is about where I am now pump is out, it was leaking between the plastic and the casting. The motor was still working fine just leaking. I really hate to spend the high dollars on the pump if just replacing the gasket and resealing it will work. Has any one had success doing this??? If not I will go with a new pump, maybe a new thermostat too as long as I am there....

Just ordered Pump, thermostat and all new hoses...

I have bookmarked this pump at Amazon for the last 3 years waiting for mine to fail, but it is still going strong at 10 years. Just enter the part number into Amazon's website and it should show up (or try something like BMW Engine Water Pump Electric Pierburg).

I highly recommend replacing the thermostat while you are in there.

Ive never had a pump that leaked. Its always been speed deviation faults or a complete failure that ive replaced pumps for.

Well put - speaking of leaks, how about oil! I have already replaced the oil filter mount gaskets, there was some leakage there. I just finished the valve cover gasket, I could not see any leakage there- no oil in the plugs, no oil on the valve cover or head past the gasket - don't think it was leaking.. I can see oil has been running down the bell housing still very wet. Something is still leaking. Can turbos cause a leak to appear on the bell housing
?

I just did my water pump and thermostat while I was doing my oil pan gasket on my N55 E90. I also replaced several coolant hoses, but I cheaped out and neglected to replace this one, BMW p/n 11537588880, which is typically ~$120.

It failed horribly, coolant everywhere. Ugh.... Guess what I'm replacing tonight?

Have you replaced the oil pan gasket? It could be leaking all along the backside like mine was. If your oil pan gasket is relatively fresh then it could be the rear main seal.
