Airbag replacement

So I recently upgraded my cars steering wheel to the m sport one, so I had to buy a sport airbag. I contacted my local junk yard and they said they had a 2009 335i that was in a read end collision that had the airbag recall performed. I thought okay sweet for $100 let me go grab it before anyone else does. I went and bought the airbag no problems. It looked a little “shiny” so I thought let me run the vin to see if the recall has been performed or not. “I wish I would’ve done this first” well apparently the car has been in the junkyard since late 2015 airbag recalls was in February 2016. I contacted the junk yard and they pretty much said you’re on your own. So my question is, if I’ve got the vin number on hand and proof of where I purchased the airbag, will bmw replace it even though the car is in the junk yard? After all, it doesn’t really cost them any money to replace it.

If you the recall does not apply to your VIN number, they won't do anything for you. Should have just bought the recall airbag from the dealer. I bet it's in the neighborhood of what you paid at the junkyard! Now you've got an airbag that could kill you.

Not even close, only paid $75 at the junk yard, dealer wants $300

You’re probably right, but parts is closed on the weekend. Not everyone is open on saturdays

First, call the yard and ask to speak with the manager or owner, who should be happy to give you your money back, as I don't think they are allowed to resell recalled parts.
