So I found this sensor dangling down behind the left (driver) side headlight. Looking through my Bentley manual and Google, it looks like the outside air temperature sensor. However, my Bentley manual says that should be located in the RIGHT side brake duct (I have a 97 M3). Maybe since it is just dangling there it is plugged into the wrong side? Anyway, can any of the E36 experts tell me what this is? On that note, since I found this on the wiring harness for the left headlight, I went and looked at the right headlight wiring harness, and there are about four connectors on that harness not connected to anything. Anyone have a good source for me to see what all the connectors are for? RealOEM shows the harness, but no indication of what each connector is used for.

Thanks!

That IS the ambient air temperature sensor.
Ziptie in a location with good airflow, away from engine heat buildup.

Right brake duct has the temp sensor for heated washer nozzles.

Thats the Outside Ambient Temp Sensor, Goes into one of your Brake Ducts (Right one you facing the engine), Mine came off too and I used some JB Weld eproxy to put it back.
