Hello guys, i just bought an engine from a 1994 318is (m42b18) car to put in my m40 e30, but thats not the problem. I was told by a friend that 1994 cars have EWS 1 and i will not be able to fire up the car.. Some say that i can put an ECU that has no EWS from 1993 is and it will work with no problems, is that true because i know that the 1993 m42b18 and 1994 m42b18 are different? I need any help regarding my problem, because i want to make sure if i will be able to run this engine in the e30 before i put it in http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif . Thanks alot. Sorry for my English skills..

EWS1 is just a starter interlock relay, which cuts fuel pump and starter wire. You should have no problem with 1994. The 1994 was the only year when EWS1 (relay) was installed. Sooner car had no real immo from the factory and later had EWS2 which is more difficult to pass. But with 1994 you are fine.
