I ordered a similar, or the same, one on Amazon (with the blue case) and had fitment issues as well. Mine werent as bad as yours and I did end up making it work, but it took some significant persuasion with a file.

They must be selling a bunch of those sets, I bought one last week. The blocks were square and fit but the vanos wrench was really bad, it got the job done but needs to be tweaked.

How does something so simple get messed up so badly!?
If anyone needs a set in the SF Bay Area, PM me. I have all the necessary tools that I can rent out to you for a small fee.

I ordered my set from Baum Tools on eBay and it was perfect. It also came with a pin for the upper chain tensioner. With OP's photos in mind, I'll be avoiding anything from that 8milelake distributor.

Damn for $40 that's a great deal. I made my tools and that was fun and all, but for $40 with free shipping, that's hard to beat!
