Hello (long-time lurker who actually needs help),

so unfortunately my driver's door window is broken and I'm currently looking for a replacement glass, I know it would be easier to replace the whole door and be done with it, but there's no available doors in my colour within my reach (and budget) and I'm not a good painter. So I was wondering, guys, are there any guides to replacing said window? Any feedback is appreciated.

The window is not all that difficult to remove, assuming basic to intermediate skills. Your car is a '92, so you do not have any warnings about air bags to remember.

You have to remove the door panel and the exterior trim on the door (the door ding strip). the exterior trim has access holes that you need to get to in order to remove some screws. You will have to move the window up or down to get some of the screws to align with the holes in the door, these holes are hidden by the exterior strip on the door.

You will absolutely break a few of the clips that hold the door panel and the exterior trim piece in place. There are two kinds of clips on the exterior trim, and I forget if all of the door panel clips are the same or if there are multiples. Use www.realoem.com as a guide on the location and type of clips, the line item part number will say something like 2 per door for one of them, and 5 per door for the others, whatever count is needed to fill all of the holes. The clips are not very expensive, and the wait for the UPS truck is not worth any savings, I just buy these items from the local dealership.

Thank you for the tips. But how do I insert and guide the glass in place?

Remove metal retainer from clip. Both sides of regulator. Lower regulator.

Remove glass.

Replace glass.

Replace clips. They will need to be replaced. 51321938884. Two of them

Do I need to lubricate the rail and glass with silicone?

Glass goes in from the outside side of the door. I grease the rail on mine

I'm not sure that lubing is a good idea. If the lubricant attracts dirt and grime, you will have trouble later. Especially in cold weather when the goo turns to glue. I think this is a spot for clean and dry.

You can only put the glass in from one place. It will be obvious when you get there.

Thank you for the tips! Going to post results or trouble after I receive my glass replacement!
