316i sounds like 318tds

Hey,

Got 316i with m40b16 (73kw) belt, engine in it, but the engine is sounding like diesel, it was missing around a liter of oil in it, i filled it up but still no change, is the camshaft is gone or i need to adjust the valves?

Take a video with good audio quality and post it to youtube. Use a good smartphone or whatever, but be sure to hold it horizontally. Move the camera around the engine bay and make the video longer than 2 minutes, also rev the engine a couple times.
