I'm looking to sell my 98 M3/4/5 but its hard to find "driver" & salvage examples of these cars especially ones that price reflects condition.
I'm not looking to give the car away of course, but I'm trying to pick the brains of more knowledgeable E36 people. Car has a salvage title due to hail damage.
Selling due to no longer having the space or need for the car. Maybe if someone is interested in can PM me. Just asking the community what they believe is a far price.
Info on car is

M3/4/5

Post some pictures or it's impossible to say. Hail damage is a lot better than accident damage. Is it possible to have the hail damage paintless dent repaired? What's maintenance do you have records for? Silver/dove isn't the most exciting combo and won't get you any points. $5-$6k possibly if it was in GREAT cosmetic and mechanical condition before the salvage title.

You'd get more money out of parting it out than its actually worth. Salvage title here in ny, insurance companies will only pay out about 30% of its kbb value. So that's probably about $2 grand if it was in great condition. That's just the sale of the engine in reality. Put it up for $3grand for the car the way it is and someone that's also an enthusiast will probably give it a chance.

Salvage titles are difficult to even insure in Michigan. But if it's well sorted I'm sure a track guy would love to scoop it up.
Also big impact on the price, you say there was hail damage. Did you fix the damage or just leave it as is? Most people coughing up money for M3s now are going to want them to be near pristine, or be able to restore them, and the hail damage could really limit that.

Salvage title vehicles have to be rebuilt and inspected by a certified facility in order to get a roadworthy "Rebuilt" stamped title.
Between that and having dents on nearly every body panel, I personally wouldn't pay much for a car like that.
I do bodywork and have a stud puller to properly remove the hail dents without filler. But that is a lot of work and would require a new paint job.
It would make more sense to get a good condition clean titled M3 coupe with a bad motor and replace it. (I can get one right now for $2500).

I paid $1500 for my clean titled, running and driving '95 M3 coupe which was cosmetically terrible and had a few mechanical issues.
$2k seems too low unless you're trying to sell it overnight. I would estimate it at about $3k to $5k. Pictures would definitely help.
