Hey guys, greetings from Colombia. I've read this forum for years but I registered just now.

I'm having hesitation problems around 2500 RPM so I will be troubleshooting the VANOS solenoid and then I will clean the MAF sensor. When I was looking around the VANOS solenoid, I found that a cable connected to the solenonid housing is in pretty bad shape. Since it is connected to a metal housing I deduced it must be a ground but I don't know where does it comes from. The cable is circled below on a photo I took from the internet:

What's the purpose of this cable and do you think it may be contributing to my hesitation problems?

Thanks!

Hello there. That is the ground wire off the secondaries from the ignition coils. It runs into that plastic cover over top of the injectors to a resistor then ties into all six coils. And should have another wire coming off of it that runs into the DME.
