I decided to go ahead and pay for one door seal. Then I will use driver side (which is trashed) for "inserts" for other doors where seals shrunk with age. Main problem - I have no clue what is the color? RealOEM show following colors:
SCHIEFER
ULTRAMARIN
PERGAMENT
BRASIL

Well.. What does it mean? :) I have Silbergrau interior. Door seals is gray color. Which one do I need?

None of the above are matching, Shiefer(slate) is at least grey

Not sure what you mean by "not matching". This is all colors that available on RealOEM, one of them got to be what I have, right? Or, you are saying they remove items from catalog? I thought it would say "ENDED" but part number will still be there, no?

Be aware that even though the door seal is new it may be shrunk and show the same gaps when installed. Even though the part is new it has been sitting in storage for 20 years and sometimes these things don't age well. This isn't always the case, but I've heard of some people having to return seals due to shrinkage.

I suspect there is no better solution... Current driver side is completely wore out, has like 2ft hole in it, have to be replaced.

I'm planning to cut all seals (and new one if had to be) and insert small piece just like described on forums. The only thing I really like to do is to find small piece of tube to use to "join" butts and maybe some special rubber glue to make it more OE looking.

Try investigating E39 door seals. I recall reading the profile is same or very similar. Being a less obsolete car there might be a better color selection. Light grey was a popular E39 interior color too.

I did read 20 topics on this :) There is some Volvo seals that fit as well. I just don't understand what I gain by trying to source those.. I have no access to all those cars, and it won't solve other 3 shrunk seals. At the end, new seal is $150 or so, I just need one and if color match will be good - that's all I probably need. Other 3 seals is OK, just shrunk, but there is DYI fix for that.

Ordered a new door edge yesterday and I'm curious to see if it comes "preshrunk" LOL

Hopefully, the new seal you get will be unshrunken. Just wanted to forewarn you in case it has suffered over the years in storage. I got lucky several years ago and got all four from a seller on eBay who did not know what he had...$95 shipped! Haven't used them yet so I don't know if they've shrunk. The part numbers are 51721946393 (front) and 51721946397 (rear). The color is Schiefer. I believe we have the same color combination: silbergrau hell and silbergrau, so that should confirm that Schiefer is correct for your car.

After getting the part number from Realoem, I googled it and came up with a few suppliers. The cheapest I found was BMW of South Atlanta $135.00 plus $15.00 to ship to Michigan. Ecs tuning was comparable and FCP being the highest.

Searched for a while, cheapest is Turner Motorsport - $129/ea. Ordered 2(mostly so I don't pay shipping), hopefully they are not pre-shrunk :(

If the new ones are shrunk because of age, just cut a piece from your old one where the rubber isn't worn and splice it in at the bottom center where it goes under the plastic sill trim. Like this:

I used a little bit of CA glue to join the rubber part when I did this on my car.

Just got around installing one today. It's very nice to see new seal tight through corners. Of coarse it was pre-shrunk :) About 1/2 inch. I cut it at seam, now I need to add piece from old one. Ordered glue, will see how it goes
