I'm taking my e34 to the shop to get some parts replaced and i've been planning on upgrading the suspension, the question I have is what setup should I go with?
Currently the setup that i'm riding with is stock shocks on the front and KYB on the rear, Lowering springs which is 1.5 drop on the front and .5 on the rear. This is the setup that came with the car when I bought it a few years back.

I've been contemplating whether to get coil-overs (Bc Br racing) or shocks (Koni or something else). I would like to lower the car a tad bit more in the front but I don't like how the rear sits at all. I don't want to sacrifice the ride and don't know how reliable coil-overs are for driving on the freeway.

What are some suggestions that you guys might have?

I went with Koni Yellows and H&R springs. It's ok on 17s, a bit harsh on 18s (set to full soft)
Here's the look on staggered 17" style 5s

My car sits relatively at the same height as yours. I'm riding on 18s which can be a bit harsh depending on the road.

If I do go with Koni shocks I might still use the same springs that my car came with and might remove the spring pads in the front (not sure if that would do much of a difference). I've been looking lowtec springs but not sure how the 60/40 drop would affect my ride, and how the clearance would be.

Yeah, looks pretty similar. I recall the HRs being 1.5 drop in the front and 0.8 in the rear. If you're happy with your height, keep the springs and remove the pad (I think you can use M5 pads, they're half the thickness). Konis are great, I would avoid the Bilsteins (had them on before, quite harsh).

I went with Koni reds and H&R springs riding on staggered MPars.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

I'll go with Konis and get myself some M5 pad.
