I'm trying to understand what is needed to run full diagnostics of E34 chassis.

From what I see - ADS interface cable needed to read all modules. Questions:

1. Can someone recommend solution (hardware) which will work on modern laptop with Windows 10 (MacBook)? Most ADS cables I see use serial, some are USB, but I'm not sure which one and if it will work.

2. Which software I need to be able to read all modules and run tests?

My immediate need is to:
1. Troubleshoot central locking system
2. Check AC/heat system

As for hardware, the computer you use to run the software (I use INPA and DIS v44) will require a true RS232 serial port. The USB to RS232 adapters won't work correctly with ADS. There is a software forum on this site that covers it. It has all the links and instructions for setting everything up.

Thanks a lot. I already learned that. Have ADS cable on order.

Do uou know if DIS capable of diagnosing central locking?

I'm pretty sure DIS can, but I find it faster and easier to use INPA.
