Hi folks,

soo i was looking at my car and I'd like the front to sit just a tad more closer to the ground. I dont wanna go crazy, 20mm max. But when I started looking for springs all I've found were 40-60mm ones.. Well thanks but no. Anyone know where I could get a pair? +Dont want to lower the rear, just add some spacers, and bilsteins.
Then I started considering cutting my springs... like half a coil, that should still be in the safe zone? The springs still has enough compression to stay in place right? My dad said it will jump right out because, at least that was the case with his good ol E30's. So is it a no-go or cutting half a coil is still OK?

Thanks in advance.

Here is a pic of the car, no spacers, original style 16's. 225/55R16*7j

Don't cut your springs. They won't seat right and you lose the progressive part of the coils and it'll ride worse.

H&R and Eibach will do what you want; search around for pictures of how low they sit. Your car will ride worse, though better than with cut springs. Vogtland and BavAuto are too low and will crash over big bumps. There are also various factory springs ("sport", "low-slung", and/or "Mtech") that will lower slightly but still should ride ok. You could also experiment with stock 518i springs (ideally from a Touring as those had lighter front ends than equivalent sedans).

What are the differences between the 518i and 520i touring springs? Are they softer?

518i has a lighter engine so the springs should be softer to keep the specified ride height. See here, towards the bottom (http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Maintenance/E34Touring/Suspensions.htm).

If and when you do find 518 springs (or any other stock springs, including the ones you have now), could you please 1. measure the "wire" thickness within 0.1mm, and 2. count the coils?

Sure, will do.

My front struts are shot, so i can probably measure the 520i touring springs when i replace them.
