I am replacing my ABS control module soon after going though all the classic symptoms of it failing. My car is production date 09/1997 and after pulling my ABS module it says Bosch Dynam.-Stabilitats-Control 3 ABS/DSC3. Will the ABS/DSC5 work? I am only finding that used on Ebay so far.

Need more specifics on what you are trying to buy. If it's the DSC 5.7, it won't work. Starting with the '99 models, the module is incorporated with the pump in the engine bay. Your module is up under the dash and will be the 5.3.
I probably have a couple out in the garage if you need one.

Its definitely not the DSC 5.7. According to my research I have the DSC 5.3 which has the ABS control module behind the glove box and not attached to the pump under the hood like the 5.7 does. I really wish it was the 5.7 because I could send it out for a rebuild.

I managed to find a used ABS control module that matches my current one exactly as far as part number goes. Does it require recoding at the dealership?

I've seen it reported both ways when it comes to coding being required. You can't hurt anything plugging it in to see if everything works. I doubt you will find a dealer to code it, if required, though. Any good indy shop that deals with German cars would be able to do it.

Thats what I have read on old forums, I'll have to see if the lights clear once I get going for a test drive, if not I'll call a few indy shops and see what they can do for me.
