The time has come and she’s got to go!
Ladies & Gents, I will offer my apologies in advance for the "car salesman" pitch (below)...I've got her posted in several spots and none are nearly as knowledgeable as this venerable forum, so I had to jazz the description up a bit. Flickr/Panjo wore me out!
Fellow members, you know what you're looking at and she's up for sale. A few salient points are:
Bone stock - 1997 BMW Z3 1.9 Roadster with just 62.6k original miles!
I've owned her for 4+ years now and have put ~ 22k miles on her (only about 5k/year a true "Sunday" driver)
Adult owned, garaged, covered, no kids/smoke/track/pets so that means no rips/tears/stains - Pristine :)
New tires (<1k miles)
Newer battery (<1 yr)
Mechanically sound
Aesthetically pleasing
Below is the sales listing found elsewhere.
If interested, please do not delay as I would really like to see her go to a fellow member, pm or email bmwz3forme@gmail.com
This particular Z3 has lived a pampered life as the weekend toy, resting in a garage under its fitted cover, just waiting for the perfect weather days of summer. It is finished in Montrealblau (Montreal Blue) metallic pearl coat over beige leather interior (both seats and door panels) with a beige top. Modern amenities such as electronic traction control, heated seats, dual airbags, cruise control, AC & 4-wheel ABS disc brakes serve to compliment your driving experience.
The body wears all original paint with just the slightest amount of patina to prove it. Curves and lines are perfect. All panels are exactly as they were when she rolled off the assembly line 20 years ago. Tires recently replaced (<1k miles) and a newer battery (<1 yr old). Incredibly, the alloy rims have absolutely no curb rash whatsoever! I would rate the body and paint as a 9/10 (patina). The leather interior is similarly well maintained with no excessive wear. The dash is the original color with no fading, cracking or warping. Easily a 9.5/10.
I have driven this car 500+ miles in a single day to visit family and friends in neighboring states and let me tell you, the driving experience is nothing short of exhilarating! Everything works exactly as it should. The car comes complete with both keys, original owner’s manual, Pelican parts project book, the rear window cover, tonneau cover (boot) and window sunshade (sunbrella style). All are OEM components. A custom fitted cover is also included for complete protection when stored.
If you are thinking about a Z3, with the 1.9L with a 5-speed manual, this is the one to buy. Powered by a peppy 1.9L engine, with its centerline located behind the front wheels and weighing in at only 2700 lbs., this car drives and handles like no other. Light on its feet with a turning radius under 20 feet, she will literally turn on a dime and may very well be responsible for coining the phrase “go kart” like handling. The inline 4 motor is virtually bulletproof and easily returns 30+ mpg combined.
A delicious combination of classic style and modern convenience provide the savior fare needed to navigate through the most demanding of asphalt covered venues. The “winding road ahead” sign will become your welcome friend…absolutely thrilling! With only 62.6k miles and an asking price under $10k, the only question that remains is what are you waiting for?!?
With the goal of complete transparency, please take a look at the repairs I conducted on the gearbox's drain plug shortly after taking ownership. She's put - maybe - a dozen drops of tranny fluid onto the pan that I keep beneath her in the last 3+ years. That's it. Everything else is bone dry and I mean everything...not a weep/seep/smear. No rips/tears/stains. A fine example of the durability and longevity of German engineering and American craftsmanship.
