Trying to solve a timing problem.

Should the reference pin on the flywheel align at the reference pick up point @ TDC.

If so, would that be cylinder #1 or does the ecu use another for reference.

Hi Bob,
During the time your car was laid at the shop was the timing chain and sprocket removed? Could the chain have skipped a tooth on sprocket? I once had this problem on my car.

I don't see how the flywheel be out of alignment. If I recall, the flywheel has only one way it can be mounted.

Hi Fernando,

No, the chain has never been touched since new.

I know there's a locator for the flywheel but the reference pin on the flywheel

doesn't align with the reference pick up probe. I've read posts where the index collar could be crushed

when installing the flywheel resulting in a misaligned pin. I'm assuming that when cylinder #1 is @ TDC

the pin on the flywheel should be pointing directly at the pickup probe. I'm just being anal in wanting to confirm.
