Current carpet is junk. It was the thin style with the separate foam/liner underneath.
Your recommendations for new carpet.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Not inexpensive, but the original carpeting is still available from BMW, at least in Anthrazit. Third-party vendors, like ECS, Turner, etc. also show it as being available.

Thanks, Dean. I saw the ECS/factory link and it is fairly priced at $500 for the front, but the rear was ridiculous. Also, the ECS/factory looks to have the foam bonded to the carpet (like an E30), whereas my car has foam on the floor with thin carpet overlay. So, I ruled out the ECS item.
Any experience(s) with stockinteriors.com? ACC carpets?

My carpet was ruined by a leaking power brake booster when I got the car. I used the carpet with mass backing from Rock Auto. It was pre molded but still had to be cut and some final fitting was necessary. The backing is stiff rubber and a heat gun helped on the final fitting. The backing helps little on sound proofing also. I think it was around $150. I used black to replace pearlbeige and am totally pleased with it. It is 1 piece front and back.

Wow, that sounds like quite a deal on the RockAuto carpet set. Is it a loop pile, or does it look original?

It's called cutpile, I think. Looks more like what's in new BMWs

I too love German square weave but wow is it expensive. $179.00 a yard but it is easy to work with and you can easily form it with some steam. We just finished a full custom 1973 Subaru 360 and we installed German square weave in it.
