Let me start off by saying that the 328i is a solid car. Great for anyone looking to purchase a everyday driver with looks and a bit of speed (and I do mean a BIT). Being that this is my first Bmw, I did very little research and went with the first thing that caught my eye. I was searching for a car with some aggression and slowly started realizing that this is not what I was looking for. I do enjoy the car while in 2nd to 3rd gear... But off the line it is a bit disappointing. I've yet to test drive a 335 but in thinking I will trade after 6 months. That is all...

Yeah, if speed and power are what you are looking for, a 335 is what you want . The trade off with a 335, there is more maintenance involved and less reliable, but they can make a lot of power with the right mods if you are into that. I own a 328 and a 535, it is night and day difference between the two engines. If you do decide to trade in for a 335, make sure you do all the research you can so you are aware of the potential problems beforehand. Most of the n54 cars should have most of the bugs worked out of them by now. I think the n55 cars are a little more reliable.

Thank you for the writeup, unfortunately this car is lacking power ...Other than that it is a very nice ride to own

I have a 2006 325i and although it do wish it had more power, I don't consider it to be under powered by any means. Although all wheel drive is nice, I wouldn't get a car with all wheel drive unless I needed it. It just plain makes the car heavier and there is a good bit more power robbing drive train that the engine has to contend with. If power is at the top of the list of what you want and you want to stick with a 3 series without an "M" price tag, the 335i is what you are looking for. Just be prepared for the typical stuff that see with all 3 series BMWs plus all of those issues that accompany having a turbo charged engine. There is just plain more to go wrong.
I'd suggest that you first test drive some rear wheel drive models. I don't find my 325i to be lacking off of the line at all. Of course, it isn't a straight line speed demon, but when I want to, I can usually be the first through an intersection after a red light. Still, I do believe that my next one will be a 330i. Not as hot as a 335, but I believe that the 330 is inherently more reliable. My cousin has a 335i and it's pretty quick, but I'd rarely use all of the power.
Like I said, test drive a few rear wheel drive models and see what you think. I've seen many comments regarding anything less than a 335 as lacking power, but I just don't get it. Mine has enough power to provide a few thrills when I want them and I really don't think that I'd characterize a car that can break 130 mph as slow.

Thank you for your response Tony! Maybe I'm being a bit too picky...may just stick it out with the 328, get her tuned up and see what she can do.
